Miller is just two years old.
In his short life, he has already faced more than most of us ever will.
He has survived cardiac arrest, life support, two open heart surgeries, and seven months of chemotherapy. From the very beginning, his life has been a fight.
Miller was born with a severe heart defect. At just two days old, he underwent open heart surgery. On day three, he went into cardiac arrest and was placed on life support, with machines keeping him alive.
And somehow, he pulled through.
But the challenges didn’t stop there.
He later required a second major heart surgery and spent months in hospital, much of that time sedated and on a ventilator. When other babies were learning to crawl and explore the world, Miller was learning how to breathe on his own.
He now lives with chronic lung disease, relies on tube feeding, and has ongoing developmental delays due to everything his little body has endured.
And through it all, he still smiles.
Then came another unimaginable blow.
Miller was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer. After seven months of chemotherapy, there was hope, but sadly the cancer has proven too aggressive.
While it remains in his liver, it is growing too quickly.
A liver transplant was once considered, but due to the condition of his heart, Miller is no longer eligible. After seeking every possible option, including specialist opinions and treatments, the heartbreaking reality is that there are no curative options left.
Radiation is now being used to slow the tumour and give his family more time.
Time to make memories.
Time to share moments of joy.
Time for his siblings to remember their little brother beyond hospital walls.
Miller has now been referred to palliative care.
This is every parent’s worst nightmare.
Originally, the plan was to fly the family up to Queensland. But they’ve since made the decision to take their time and drive up the beautiful east coast of Australia instead.
They want to stop along the way, take in the incredible sights, and create as many special memories as they can together. Along the journey, they hope to visit some amazing places, including the big one, Bluey’s World, as well as theme parks and other special destinations.
At CommunityPete, we want to do what we can to support this beautiful family during this incredibly difficult time.
We would love to help make this journey possible and help tick off some of Miller’s bucket list dreams.
Funds raised will go towards travel, accommodation, and giving this family the chance to focus on what matters most, being together and creating memories that will last forever.
If you’re in a position to donate, no matter how big or small, it will make a real difference.
Together, we can give Miller and his family something truly special.
Together, we are stronger as one.
